No regime or government lasts forever. We have a pretty good track record but perhaps our expiration date is here. So much blame to go around. For me a telling sign is the fact that my generation (born 1933) is healthier and will live longer than the generations following me. Their lives are more stressful. What their parents had seems out of reach for them. Electing "he who will fix everything" does not seem like a positive sign. Is it too late for the pendulum to turn around?

I hope not. But I'm not betting on it.

Also science related is that global warming will be ignored. Drill baby drill is ignorant, short term thinking that will make life worse for our children. It's no different than what Beruff and Neal do to Manatee County, only much worse. We are a flat earth majority.

As John Adams said, facts are stubborn things. Ignoring facts won’t make them go away. You make a great point about how it happens locally with certain developers getting projects through which don’t make sense for the community. Ignoring facts will catch up with you. It’s just a matter of time.

And Sarasota County allowing Walmart to build on wetlands. Breaking its own 2050 Plan to pieces to allow smothering development that has standstill traffic on all main streets and I-75 a daily enraging occurrence. And now there’s an outbreak of measles — the “canary in the coal mine” for public health. Bird flu may be right around the corner as another major health attack. Alzheimer’s numbers are low compared to the number of people with low ability to discern facts. Sad. And so much more sadness to come. In tears every day.

John Favreau (POD Save America) said yesterday that in our post-Covid world economy every incumbent party leader world-wide has been rejected due to inflation and uncontrolled corporate greed. The Koch Bros won this election. My problem is that our lofty values cannot be convince voters who get their fill of fascism from the pulpit every Sunday. That’s fascisms “ground game”. If we close our Dem Party office (which should be on Main Street) after each election… we are asking for another whopping. Today is the 2nd day of the mid-terms election battle. SRQ Roll up your sleeves!

Thanks Jeff. I wasn't shocked by the outcome this time because we've been here before. How about you?

Part of the reason that Trump won was because people are really tired of being called racists, bigots, homophobes, garbage, etc. by the left. You lost my respect because you are doing the same thing.

One of the worst things Trump did in his first term was separate children from their parents - Hispanic children separated from their Hispanic parents. Very troubling to me that so many people can overlook this and vote for him.
